Bright Aura

It is easy to find awesome single bed linen for toddlers…even tweens, but finding something for a more mature teen can be a bit of a challenge.

This is why I love, love, love that Aura by Tracie Ellis has released a single bed version of their amazing quilts. Chevron, stripes, dots, triangles and crosses in the hottest colour combos of the moment. Made from pure cotton sateen with a 360 thread count this range of bed linen is pure quality at an affordable price.

My personal fave from the collection is the charcoal cross quilt with the orange piping, what a hot colour combination that is! You can also purchase matching pillows, throws and rugs so check out the Aura website to see more of this great range.

Um, Yes Please Uimi!

Colour lovers pay attention!

Lifestyle brand Uimi create the most divine knitted products from top quality natural fibres right here in Australia! Based in Melbourne this small team designs and makes an impressive collection of homewares and fashion using a fun palette of colours and a great selection of patterns. I love the variations in the colour schemes for each design, they really have selected a great array to cover all tastes from pastels through to punchy brights.

Other than looking amazing, all of the Uimi products feel divine, testament to the difference quality materials can make in a piece. The blankets and pillows are made from super soft merino wool, they feel amazing and just beg to be snuggled! Trust me, I tried them out at Life Instyle!!

You can buy Uimi products in Australia and New Zealand from the following stockists.

Ahhh Ponyrider, they can do no wrong!

These guys are producing consistently amazing ranges that are bang on trend. The latest two collections are Black Traveller and Modern Wanderer which introduce some geometric patterns and richer colours into the fold. Strong use of triangular patterns across the range has clearly been inspired by a recent trip to Mexico and the traditional decorative arts of the region.

Also new this season are some small circular cushions, new tea towel designs and the return of the gorgeously warm merino wool blankets from the last collection, perfect for keeping you cosy in those cooler months. Cannot wait until this range becomes available in early April!

A huge congrats to Ponyrider for taking out the Australian Made division at the inaugural Gift and Life Instyle Awards (GALA Awards), deserved recognition of this Aussie brand which keeps going from strength to strength.

Welcome Back!

Wow! Feb 2014 already, yikes I really took a bit of a longer of a break then expected! Such is life with two young kids and a job aside from this wee little blog 🙂

What a great month to return on though, February is jam-packed with Trade Shows in Sydney, so for the next couple of weeks we will be bringing you highlights from each show beginning with Decoration + Design in Sydney. Check back Monday week for all the goss on what’s new and lovely or follow my Instagram feed for sneak peaks straight from the show.

Today is also a very special day on a personal level because it is the day my little boy starts school! So todays design has been chosen as it reminds me of school lunches in brown paper bags… except exceptionally more glam!

Saco De Papel by Adaism – Leather or cork bags with brass snap closure. Various sizes and finishes available. Prices range from EUR 69 – 239.

It may be summer here in Australia, but the current weather is a wee bit wintery making my latest discovery all the more appealing!

Melbourne Company Otto and Spike make these gorgeous 100% Merino Wool blankets that you just know will be super snug, soft and cuddly. The Starstruck Blanket features a large Aztec style pattern in a selection of four colour palettes, my fave is the Charcoal, Natural and Gold combo!

Each blanket measures 150 x 210cm, which is about equivalent to a queen size bed. I can imagine these would look gorgeous draped across a bed or as a throw on the lounge! They are all knitted by Otto and Spike in Melbourne and retail at $300 each. I love them, how about you?

Beach Time!

Have you seen the latest from Dinosaur Designs? They have just collaborated with Australian clothing brand Jac+Jack to create some pretty amazing, high-end beach towels!

These limited edition beach towels are made with organic cotton, which has been hand loomed and dyed by artisans in West Bengal. There are three designs in the collection called The Kiss, Lagoon and Rising Beach, which all feature the unmistakable Dinosaur Designs style of brilliant colour and organic shapes.

$150 seems quite a reasonable price to pay once you know that each towel takes the artisans three days to create on their ancient looms! Wow! Take a peak…
