Rather Strapping

I’m a little in love with these Strap Baskets which are a collaboration between American companies byAMT and Mimot Studio.

An elegant, minimal storage solution for your home with a multitude of uses. Beautifully combining leather straps secured by a mixture of copper plated rivets and wire cross stitch. But these baskets aren’t just pretty, they are built for strength and can withstand quite heavy loads from magazines through to firewood!

The Strap Baskets are available in two sizes, small and large, and don’t miss the soon to be released Strap Tote to complete the collection, it’s bound to be amazing too.

Check their website to find your local stockist.

Desk Obsessed

Okay, okay I know I’m by far not the first to post about these babies BUT I am obsessed with the new Country Road desk accessories so I feel like it would be wrong to ignore that!

A beautiful mix of Nordic inspired simplicity and the allure of metallics this recently released range ticks all the right boxes for me. The collection as a whole is classic and classy perfectly combining wood, metallics and monochrome finishes.

I remember swooning over some of these pieces at the Design Files Sydney open house in December so I am a wee bit excited that they are now available to purchase online and at such an affordable price!

Country Road Paper Clip Set – $14.95, Dakota Scissors – $14.95, Morgan Ruler – $9.95CountryRoad-desk14_03Dante Divider – $79.95, Remy Small Pencil Case – $17.95

Intelligent Speaker

See this stylish little cone? Well this is one clever little contraption too!

Cone is the first design created by start-up company Aether. Based in San Francisco, Aether is a software and hardware company that decided your speakers should not only look and sound amazing, but needed to be more intelligent too. A software program allows this wireless wi-fi speaker to choose the music you like, learning as it is used to create an archive of what style of music you like to listen to even noting your change in taste depending on your location! If you don’t like a song that cone has selected for you, turn the dial face to select another or press the centre button to request a song. These actions will also help the device narrow down your style consistently improving its selections to suit your taste.

The speaker has access to an impressive range of music, streaming from an online library of 20 million tracks, podcasts and internet radio stations or via access to your personal music collection on your Mac or iPhone using Airplay (An Android system is also in the works.) It is a fully portable design which will provide you with a cracking 8 hours of tunes thanks to a built-in rechargeable lithium battery.

Cone will be available in late 2014 at a retail price of US$399. Initially they will only be available in the black and copper finish, a white and silver edition will follow by the end of the year. Join the reservation list to be first in line!

Rattan Radio

Don’t you just love a contradiction of materials? Take the Hybrid Radio designed by Mathieu Lehanneur for Lexon for example, who would have ever thought that rattan could look so modern, sleek and sexy?!

Launched at Maison&Objet trade fair 2014 in late january, this radio is the unusual combination of plastic and woven rattan, a detail used by the designer to reference ancient crafts and the latest technology. Can the two coexist in this modern world? If this is the result, I think the answer is a resounding YES!!!

The radio is available in two versions, AM / FM Radio or DAB+/FM radio and also features bluetooth connectivity which allows you to play your music wirelessly. The radio can be powered by AA batteries making it portable and is available in your colour choice of white or graphite.

Light + Ladder

Ahh Farrah Sit, she has done it again!

You might already be familiar with her original Spora Hanging Porcelain Planters which we featured a while back, they are still one of the most popular items we have ever featured! Well here is a little something new from Farrah, the Hex Spora Planters. LOVE THEM!

In characteristic style they are a beautiful minimal design which combines a miniature ceramic cup with a hexagonal wooden base. The set works best in multiples which allows you to join, move and constantly change the configuration of this feature. And the design is not just for plants, use it as a orgainser to store paper clips and pins in the office, salt, pepper and spices on the dinner table or jewellery in the bed room!

Each set of ceramic bowl and maple wood base retails for $32.00 and is available through Farrah’s new online store Light + Ladder.
