My current creative crush is Brisbane based artist Matt Stewart.
Matt is a self-taught artist that creates amazing street art style works using a combination of mediums from aerosol cans, acrylics, charcoal and pencil. All his works are edgy and raw, but I love the pops of bright colours he brings to some of his pieces!
Matt’s artworks have now morphed into various other incarnations, he has designed a series of wallpaper patterns for Wallpaper Republic, smartphone covers for The Dairy, or you may spot one of his many corporate murals around Queensland in places such as NOVA 106.9 FM Brisbane or the Novotel Brisbane to name just a few. Impressive stuff!
I personally discovered Matt’s work through Fenton & Fenton, who stock some of his large artworks as part of their curated collection. I just LOVE that first Indian girl artwork!
If you are looking for some fun wall art for your nursery or child’s room, but are working on a budget then you absolutely must check out the range by May and Belle!
How cool are these new super hero themed prints?! Better yet they also cost a super price of $27! Say whaaat? Yay!
Or if your more the pooch lover you can’t go past these too cute for words dachshund prints by Lisa Bengtsson available in Australia through Norsu Interiors. Twelve variations of pooch perfection right there to choose from and each print is just $25! Ker-Ching!
Obsessing over these amazing artworks by Johnny Niesche shown recently at Minerva, Sydney as part of his ‘Vegas Can Be’ exhibition.
Jonny Niesche is an Australian painter who studied at Sydney College of the Arts, completing his BVA in 2008. This body of work is a crazy mix of minimalism with kitsch elements, it is crafty yet so refined.
Believe it or not, the paintings I have featured below are actually made from graduating layers of glitter! Their surface sparkles and shimmers attracting the viewer like a bower bird, while mesmerizing them by creating an optical illusion. I am also digging that neon edging, the combination of the two is all so Vegas in the most spectacular kind of way!
Have you discovered the work of artist Anya Brock yet?
I am completely smitten with her budgie series! The beautifully colourful works are painted with loads of texture, paint drips and expressive dots (So up my alley!). They are so bright that they really pop on the canvas and would liven up any wall guaranteed.
Her work is available in many forms too, everything from original Acrylic on canvas pieces through to prints, trays and plates. The original works are very well priced for artworks but I just love that the budgie plates only cost a mere $20! Crazy! You could easily mount these on your wall if your budget and space limitations didn’t allow for one of the bigger pieces.
If you love what you see, check out Anya’s website for her full range which covers many different animals, girls and geometric prints.
