The Edge

The Edge is a design competition for new and emerging designers that is part of the Decoration and Design Trade Fair, and let me tell you, this showcase was jam-packed with some seriously impressive designs! So much so that I could not pick just one favourite!

But hey, that’s not such a bad thing, let’s support these amazing new creative minds and wish them all the success in the world as they embark on their adventure into the creative realm of design.

ScoopScoop By Stephanie Ng Design

Any design based on an ice-cream is an instant winner in my books!

Scoop by Stephanie Ng Design is a beautifully crafted, minimal globe light made with American oak and powder coated aluminium which is available in a white or black finish. Coloured bands are used to suggest flavours of ice-cream and come in black, silver and orange.

The globe lights can be further customised with the choice of Flex cable available in black and white zig zag (as pictured above) or orange.

Kav lighting models

Kav Pendant Light by Dezion Studio / Photography by Daniele Del Castillo

The Kav Pendant light combines contrasting materials of ceramic, with either wood veneer or cork. There are a choice of designs, colours and finishes available throughout the collection, all of which showcase clean, minimal lines and an eye for timeless design.

The wooden peg at the top of each light really complements and balances the wooden panel on the base, and adds a quirky point of interest to this design. I’m a little in love with its almost Zen like character!

FlipLamp01Flip lamp by Gabriella Audrey Aliwarga

A clever little lamp which features a cute flip design which allows the user to angle the light to where it is required. The light can either be connect to mains power or become fully portable with the use of a rechargeable battery. The battery will last an impressive 9 hours before needing to be recharged, making this slimline light an excellent option for those on the go.

Constructed from wood and aluminium, it is also tough enough to with stand knocks and bumps.

COMB

Comb by Dennis Lam

COMB is a very nifty little lamp which illuminates when you expand the three tiered design, and switches off once compressed! It is constructed from a solid piece of wood which allows the pattern of the grain to become an extra design element to the piece. When expanded the light emits soft rays through the joins, making it a perfect bedside lamp.
