Rags to Riches

It appears that I may be suffering a loom addiction! How stunning are these Boucherouite Moroccan rugs?

Berber women in the rural tribes of Morrocco hand-loom these rugs using recycled fragments of materials such as cotton, wool, synthetic fibres and occasionally plastic, which is why they are also referred to as Rag Rugs. This gives the rugs a beautiful textured surface which I personally think is very charismatic and appealing! Each rug is unique too, as the women weave a design that is inspired by the colours or materials at hand, rather than going off a set pattern. Kind of like an abstract artwork!

You can purchase your one of a kind Boucherouite rug from Australian store Fossik.

Fantastic. Very rustic and so homemade. Love the odd shapes of the rugs and the colours are so bright. Love.
