What Dad doesn’t love a BBQ?! It is something about the outdoors, the open flame, beer and burnt meat that gathers a man crowd like no bodies business! Equivalent to a mothers group, men gather around barbeques like moths to the flame, adding their two cents in on how the meats cooking and sharing jokes and competitive banter.
So what better to feature on this week then some great BBQ area designs! Wishing all you Dads an awesome day on Sunday, Happy Fathers Day guys!

And for the more relaxed… ahem, more comfort orientated Dads we bring you a great item from South Australian designer, Toby Nowland.
The Peg Stool is an innovative design which functions as both a seat and a magazine rack. Although the stool appears to be made with felt, it is actually constructed from the non-woven fabric form of P.E.T. This is a constructed fabric made by using up to 100% recycled materials such as plastic water bottles! The fabric is extremely strong which allows this design to be cut and folded to create the stool. Wooden pegs are used to secure the four sides in place, creating the design and magazine pockets in the process. No wonder Toby won the 2013 The Edge ‘Best Sustainable Design 2013’, the Peg Stool is not only made of recycled materials but can also be recycled when it is no longer of use!
Available in a huge range of colours from Tobys Online Store, check it out and give Dad the gift of comfort… with a side of green!
What makes up an ultimate man holiday? Camping, trekking, bike riding, skiing or boarding and a little bit of fire! Welcome to Basecamp South Lake Tahoe, California, aka paradise for Dads!
Located in the beautiful Lake Tahoe Basin in California, this boutique hotel is set amongst some amazing scenery and natural wonders. Regardless of the time of year you visit, there is ample things to keep any adventurous types satisfied. Think mountain treks and trail bike riding in summer, or skiing and boarding in winter!
The hotel itself is like a larger, modern version of a log cabin. The 50 rooms have been kitted out with the coolest camp inspired decor and furnishings including cage lights, maps and original artworks by Wendy MacNaughton. Depending on the number of people you are traveling with, rooms can cater for one to eight people, and some are also pet friendly! A big bonus is that the hotel has indoor areas to store your bikes, boards or skis allowing your room to stay… well, roomy!
And after a big day of adventure (or relaxation if that’s more your style!) enjoy a soak in the rooftop hot-tub while taking in the views, or warm up by the one of the two fire pits, the best place to share some Dad jokes and tall tales!

Is your Dad the music man?
Then you may want to check out these speakers by People People, a Swedish Design group. When talking music everyone wants their sound clear and crisp, well this design provides that in both audio quality and visual display!
The transparent speakers are made from glass which allows them to blend more seamlessly into your home, without minimizing the size of the speaker or the quality of sound. Wireless technology is used to avoid that messy tangle of wires leading between devices allowing this design to remain clean, minimal and seriously cool.

Oh yeah, and the speaker was featured in the music clip for Scream & Shout by Will.i.am ft. Britney Spears! Take a peak…

Fanuli has been a steadfast destination for design savvy Australians for many years now and with such an amazing range of famous Italian and Australian Designers under their belt, it will come as no suprise that they are featured in Hermit’s hot picks from Sydney Indesign.
They have recently acquired designs by Antonio Citterio, which where showcased at the Galleria during the trade fair. Let me tell you, I am showing a LOT of restraint when choosing just two items from this Italian designers collection! First is the most deliciously comfortable and stylish Lifesteel leather lounge. The quality leather combined with the feather down seat cushions made this piece a standout and if possible, I would have teleported it straight to my lounge room! This range also includes chairs, modulars and ottomans ensuring there is a perfect combination to fit your space and the framework is available in a variety of finishes.
The second lust worthy design by Citterio was the Infinity Shelving System. A combination of Epoxy-powder-coated metal box shelves with natural-cowhide storage boxes which creates a classy, sophisticated feel. Mix and match the different modules to create a unique shelving unit that meets your storage requirements. The shelves are also available in a range of colours to suit your taste and design style.
Last, but not least, is the beautiful BCN Wood stool by Italian designer Harry&Camilla. Although this design is not new it so so unique and inspiring that I thought you may want to fall in love with it all over again too! The Polyurethane seat has the most amazing curvaceous design and I was particularly taken with the natural beech leg combination. Just stunning!
The BCN Wood Stool is available in a variety of colours and the beech legs can be lacquered to match if you do not fancy the natural finish. The BCN is also available as a fixed high or low seat with steel frame or an adjustable frame, both of which can be used outdoors and feature that iconic folded seat design.
