The Hermitage – Hotel Encanto, Acapulco Mexico

For the Hermitage this week we travel to the home of one of the most famous string designs in furniture, the iconic Acapulco Chair.

Apparently created in the 50’s by a mystery French tourist, this threaded chair quickly gained a legion of fans with its comfortable, aerated design and bright colour range. Acapulco has long been considered a place of fun, the party destination. In the 50’s and 60’s Hollywood flocked here to relax, honeymoon and party the night away. Many still travel here to follow in the tracks of the celebrities (and president!) who enjoyed the sun, surf and sights of Acapulco.

But if you want to feel like a celebrity when you travel there today then surely you need to book into Hotel Encanto. A modern masterpiece by Architects Miguel Angel Aragonés that boasts not only an amazing location but also uses the bright, fun party aspect of Acapulco as part of its design inspiration.

The hotel consists of 44 rooms, 20 with their own plunge pool and 24 with their own terrace. Add to this the library, gym and spa, restaurant, bar and of course cinema, and you can she why this hotel has serious swagger AND has won enough awards to make any VIP envious. A List all the way baby!
