The Hermitage – Igloo Village Kakslauttanen

Looking for a very unique escape? How does an igloo in Finland sound?!

Each year in December / January one of the worlds most unusual hotels opens for business, the Igloo Village Kakslauttanen. Guests choose between sleeping in a snow or a glass igloo and can dine in the snow restaurant, visit the ice gallery and even get the chance to create their own ice sculpture!

My pick would definitely be the glass igloos, specially designed with thermal glass that can withstand the below zero temperatures, remain crystal clear so you can enjoy the view while keeping your room at constant temperature. Imagine lying in bed enjoying the Northern lights, now that is a once in a lifetime experience worth having.

And if you get all swept up in the romance of the natural phenomenon and decide to pop the question, you can always take advantage of the snow chapel also located here. Weddings just don’t get any whiter! Already married with children? Check out Santa’s Resort instead, I predict your children will be forever good afterwards!
