When using bright colours in your home you can either go for the highly dramatic effect or swing in the opposite direction and take a minimal approach, using colour to lift neutrals out of the bland. I am a big fan of Scandinavian style so of course I love the combination of crisp white interiors with bright homewares and furnishings.
Combining colours can be a little tricky (and daunting!) for anyone who isn’t an interior designer. I hope the following images will give you a little inspiration of what works well together and how to successfully use colour to whatever degree you wish in your own home.

Country Road is an iconic Australian label which has always made me think of fresh white linen shirts and canvas totes.
However, the most recent collection of homewares sees a shift to a younger, brighter, almost cheerier range. The bright colours combined with the usual high quality of the materials and manufacturing customary to Country Road means this range of homewares looks good and is great quality.
I especially love the white bowls with the coloured interior, what is your favourite?
Prepare yourself for an explosion of colour this week as The Hermitage visits Lords South Beach Hotel in Miami.
Now if this interior does not scream Miami then I don’t know what does! Think bright yellow of the sun and sand, crystal blues of the ocean and the glittering golden bronze tans, Miami has it all and so does this hotel! It’s interior design is punchy, bold and a little camp, but this is a gay hotel after all, hence the great Liz Taylor artworks that take centre stage.
I really love the risks they have taken with this interior, the colour combinations are brilliant and the mixture of patterns and prints are amazing.

Trust Jonathan Adler to inject some fun into your home.
He has teamed up with the iconic brand Kohler to create a range of colourful sinks that will become the statement piece in your house. Available in a range of classy colours that are bold but still classic, why not take this chance to mix it up a little and evolve from the standard white bowl.
And I love that he is wearing red and green together, Mr Adler, you little risk taker!
Time to look on the bright side Hermit Followers! Add a little punch of colour to your interiors, a little fun, a little character and save your decor from the world of beige!
