The Hermitage – Dream Downtown Hotel New York

Handel Architects really take the use of perforated to the next level, check out this unique piece of architecture!

The Dream Downtown New York hotel is a like perforated heaven. The facade uses the enlarged circular pattern as a decorative feature, that frames each room window. Drawing inspiration from the buildings origins with the Maritime union, the windows become potholes to the world outside. The pattern is further celebrated throughout the interior, with circles dotted everywhere from the tiles to the glass globes in the restaurant, which float like bubbles on the ceiling of the restaurant.

There are so many interesting design features in this hotel that I would love to see with my own eyes. I love majority of this building but do feel some areas suffer from design overkill, namely the bedrooms. What do you think of this piece of architecture and interior design?

Amazing! Almost fish bowl/ship like feel to some of it. Love it.
